Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt will not be pardoned from serving his jail term. As Maharashtra Governor Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao has reportedly rejected the pardon plea filed for Dutt in the 1993 Bombay blasts case.
The petition to cancel Sanjay Dutt’s jail term was filed by former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju in the year 2013, seeking pardon for the Bollywood actor who was convicted for illegal possession of arms in the 1993 blasts case.
In his petition, Katju had claimed that the Supreme Court had not found Dutt guilty for the 1993 bomb blasts but only found him guilty of having in his possession a prohibited weapon without a license.
According to sources, Maha governor rejected the petition on the recommendation of the state home department, which said it would set a bad example as the actor’s conviction was confirmed by the ace court of India.
Currently, the actor is out on parole for his daughter’s nose surgery.
